After birding "Carmen's yard" late in the afternoon on December 28, 2009, we drove to Ammo Dump Ponds. We photographed the Streaked Flycatcher as it perched in a tree. This photograph shows the bird's long, heavy bill with a pinkish base to the lower mandible. This species is similar to the Sulphur-bellied Flycatcher, and field marks should be checked carefully before identifying the species. Temperatures were in the upper 70's on this cloudy afternoon with intermittent rain.
