After arriving at El Valle's Canopy Lodge, we spent time before room assignments and lunch sitting on the lodge's porch watching various species of birds feed at the six nearby platform feeders. Hummingbird and platform feeders are strategically placed around the lodge and its gardens. This is a photograph showing a side view of a Streaked Saltator. This species lacks a throat patch, has broadly streaked underparts, and short white superciliaries. Saltator albicollis isthmicus is intermediate in coloration when compared to the other varieties (6 described) of this species. Temperatures were in the upper 70's on this partly cloudy afternoon.
