El Valle is located within the crater (600 m above sea level) of the second largest inhabited dormant volcano in the world. From our lodge in El Valle, we traveled to bird the area around Cerro Gaital, a 1,000 m high mountain. Temperatures were in the mid-70's with cloudy skies and intermittent rain. This photograph shows two Tawny-crested Tanagers. The male, on the left, has an orange-tawny colored crest.
