Late in the afternoon on December 28, 2009, we birded "Carmen's yard" and photographed this male Variable Seedeater. Temperatures were in the upper 70's on this cloudy afternoon with intermittent rain. We stood in the rain on the periphery of Carmen's yard looking down at the birds that were some distance away. The platform and hanging feeders attracted some different species of birds that we had not seen at Canopy Tower.
