We left Canopy Lodge after an early breakfast on December 25, 2009, to head for the dry Pacific lowland around the small community of El Chiru. The Veraguan Mango is considered an endemic species localized to western Panama. The species is similar to the Green-breasted Mango but lacks black on its underparts. Temperatures were in the low 80's (and climbing) on this partly cloudy morning.
