After lunch and a short siesta during the afternoon of December 28, 2009, Brad and I watched the hummingbirds at the feeders located around Canopy Tower. This photograph shows a side view of a male Violet-bellied Hummingbird. The bird was perched in some nearby shrubbery and sat still for photographs for several minutes. Temperatures were in the mid- to upper 80's on this hot, humid afternoon.
