We birded down river from the city of Requena along Supay Creek the morning of Tuesday, January 17, 2012. Quite a few of the birds that we saw flew over our skiff giving us just a quick look. The Bare-necked Fruitcrow, Gymnoderus foetidus, was one of them. Its deep wingbeats and small-headed appearance give the species a distinctive flight pattern. Temperatures were in the low 80's with overcast skies and high humidity.
