We birded down river from the city of Requena along Supay Creek the morning of Tuesday, January 17, 2012. Quite a few of the birds that we saw flew over our skiff giving us just a quick look. We were fortunate to find another Bare-necked Fruitcrow, Gymnoderus foetidus, perched in a river-edge forest. The male's plumage is black with silvery-gray wing coverts and remiges. The bare blue skin on its throat is crinkled and folded. Insects and fruit are part of this cotinga's diet. Temperatures were in the low 80's with overcast skies and high humidity.
