Brad photographed a Black-necked Stilt, Himantopus mexicanus, that was walking in a marshy area in the Refugio de Vida Silvestre-Pantanos de Villa Marshes the morning of Friday, January 13, 2012. This adult was keeping a close eye on its nearby offspring as it fed nearby. Our final destination for the day was to be the fishing village of Pucusana which is located 60 km south of Lima in southern Lima Province. Temperatures were in the low 80's with partly cloudy skies and high humidity.
