The morning of Thursday, January 19, 2012, we birded along Yanallpa Creek, the narrowest and smallest creek that we traversed during our Amazon journey. Brad photographed an adult Black Caracara, Daptrius ater, to show this species' all black plumage (the white rump is not visible here), long tail, and bright orangish-red facial skin. Temperatures were in the low 80's with clear skies and high humidity.
