We were up and birding bright and early along Yanallpa Creek the morning of Thursday, January 19, 2012. Yanallpa was the narrowest and smallest creek that we traversed and provided us with good birding opportunities. A Blue-crowned Trogon, Trogon curucui, is shown here. The female has a slate colored head and upperparts, a red belly, and a gray bill. Temperatures were in the low 70's with partly cloudy skies.
