We birded along Sapote Creek the morning of Wednesday, January 18, 2012, until lunchtime. This pair of Capped Herons, Pilherodius pileatus, was perched near the shoreline. The blue face and bill base, black cap, light buff-colored wash extending down its front are complemented by the rest of its whitish body. Temperatures were in the low 80's with partly cloudy skies.
