We birded down river from the city of Requena along Supay Creek the morning of Tuesday, January 17, 2012. Brad photographed a Chestnut-eared Aracari, Pteroglossus castanotis, that was perched in a river-edge forest. This large Aracari has chestnut coloration on the sides of its head and a single red band across its yellow underparts. The rump area is bright red, and the turquoise blue around the pale iris stands out against the bird's black cap and nape. Temperatures were in the low 80's with overcast skies and high humidity.
