After lunch and a siesta on Thursday, January 19, 2012, Brad and I opted to go out for more birding with Steve, our VENT guide, and a local guide along with 6 others from the group. The rest of the group either went on a fishing trip or visited a native community. A Dusky-headed Parakeet (Aratinga weddellii) seemed intent on observing the interlopers who insisted on photographing it. A ring of white bare skin (orbital eye ring) surrounds the eye. The bird's overall green plumage is highlighted by a dull gray head. Temperatures were in the upper 80's with partly cloudy skies and high humidity.
