We were up and birding early on the morning of Monday, January 16, 2012, along Yarapa Creek, a tributary of the Amazon (South Bank). The Festive Parrot, Amazona festiva, was the first bird that we saw. Unfortunately, conditions for photographing this species were less than ideal. The bird is all green with a red band through the eye. A red rump is visible when the bird is in flight. Unlike other Amazona, it lacks red in the wing speculum. Temperatures were in the upper 70's with hazy skies and high humidity.
