After birding at Refugio de Vida Silvestre-Pantanos de Villa Marshes (Lima, Peru) the morning of Friday, January 13, 2012, we drove to a beach area near Club Garza Real to look for shore birds while on our way to Pucusana. I focused in on this Franklin's Gull, Leucophaeus pipixcan, as it flew amid a mixed flock of terns and gulls that were flying over the crashing surf. Temperatures were in the mid-80's with hazy skies and high humidity.
