After lunch and a siesta on Wednesday, January 18, 2012, we headed downstream on the Ucayali River to El Dorado Creek for some late afternoon birding. We had the good fortune to spot a group of three Hoatzins, Opisthocomus hoazin, including this fraternizing pair. They provided us an excellent view of the bright blue featherless facial skin, red irides, and spiky crest of the bird. Temperatures were in the mid-80's with partly cloudy skies.
