We birded along Sapote Creek the morning of Wednesday, January 18, 2012. During our morning break aboard the Aquamarina, Brad and I looked for birds near a reedy area where the ship was moored. This male Lesson's Seedeater, Sporohila bouvronides, was one of the species that we photographed from the upper deck. This small black and white seedeater has a black crown, prominent white malar stripes, and a narrow white rump band. Temperatures were in the low 80's with partly cloudy skies.
