Buried amid the marsh vegetation, this Many-colored Rush Tyrant, Tachuris rubrigastra, was pretty well camouflaged and not the easiest bird to photograph. A yellowish-white superciliary and bold white wing bar are present on this juvenile. Traces of yellow on its side indicate the yellow underparts that will develop as the bird ages. We were birding the Refugio de Vida Silvestre-Pantanos de Villa Marshes the morning of Friday, January 13, 2012. Our final destination for the day was the fishing village of Pucusana which is located 60 km south of Lima in southern Lima Province. Temperatures were in the low 80's with partly cloudy skies and high humidity (typical for the area).
