The morning of Thursday, January 19, 2012, we birded along Yanallpa Creek, the narrowest and smallest creek that we traversed during our Amazon journey. We headed back to the Aquamarina to go back the 250 miles to Iquitos (this time with the current). I photographed a Point-tailed Palmcreeper, Berlepschia rikeri, from the ship's upper deck. The bird was buried in some Mauritia palms along the river's edge. Upperparts are rufous, and primaries are a dark brown. Underparts, head, and nape are barred white on brown. Temperatures were in the mid-80's with clear skies and high humidity.
