After lunch and a siesta on Thursday, January 19, 2012, Brad and I opted to go out for more birding with Steve, our VENT guide, and a local guide along with 6 others from the group. The rest of the group either went on a fishing trip or visited a native community. A Red-capped Cardinal, Paroaria gularis, showing its bright red head, reddish orange irides, black upperparts and throat, and white underparts, was perched in the canopy of some river island foliage. Temperatures were in the mid-80's with clear skies and high humidity.
