We were on a pseudo-pelagic trip that departed from Pucusana the afternoon of Friday, January 13, 2012, and took us around some of the rocky islands in the bay and Pacific Ocean to bird. Brad photographed a Red-legged Cormorant, Phalacrocorax gaimardi, as it perched on a rocky island in the Pacific. This cormorant has light gray plumage, a white neck patch, bright reddish-orange legs and base to its yellowish bill. The gular pouch is reddish-orange, and the iris is either green or gray. Sexes are similar. Temperatures were in the mid-80's with sunny skies and high humidity.
