We were birding along Sapote Creek the morning of Wednesday, January 18, 2012, when we photographed a Ringed Kingfisher, Megaceryle torquata, as it flew overhead. The head is a bluish-gray as are the upperparts. The large ragged crest is diagnostic. Males have rufous underparts below a broad white collar. Temperatures were in the upper 60's with overcast skies.
