We spent the early morning of Sunday, January 15, 2012, birding along a small tributary (Tapara Creek) of the Amazon below the main confluence of the Ucayali-Marañón Rivers. Brad photographed a Roadside Hawk, Buteo magnirostris, that was perched over the river. The adult has a pale iris, yellow cere, rufous primaries, and yellow feet and legs. Upperparts of this adult are gray. Its flight is interspersed with short glides as it moves from perch to perch. Temperatures were in the low 70's with partly cloudy skies.
