We spent the morning of Sunday, January 15, 2012, birding along a small tributary (Tapara Creek) of the Amazon below the main confluence of the Ucayali-Marañón Rivers. Brad took a sideview of a Roadside Hawk, Buteo magnirostris, as our skiff came within shooting distance of its perch. The gray plumage of this adult, yellow iris, cere and legs, rufous primaries, and barred tail are shown here. Temperatures were in the mid-80's on this humid morning with overcast skies.
