The morning of Tuesday, January 17, 2012, we birded along the Ucayali River and along Supay Creek, which is located down river from the city of Requena. This pair of Scarlet Macaws, Ara militaris, flew over our skiff. Underparts are red, the chin is black, and the cheek and ocular area are white. The long tail is distinctive on this, the largest Peruvian Parrot. Temperatures were in the mid-70's with overcast skies and high humidity.
