We birded along Sapote Creek the morning of Wednesday, January 18, 2012, until lunchtime. Brad photographed a Southern Rough-winged Swallow, Stelgidopteryx ruficollis, that was perched on a thin snag near the water's edge. The bird's tawny throat contrasts with a grayish-brown breast. The belly is a pale yellow, and upperparts are a darker brown with a blackish tail. Temperatures were in the low 80's with partly cloudy skies.
