We spent the later part of the afternoon of Sunday, January 15, 2012, birding along Yapara Creek, a tributary of the Amazon River located below the main confluence of the Ucayali-Marańón Rivers. Brad photographed a Tui Parakeet, Brotogeris sanctithomae, showing its pale yellow iris, a complete white eye ring, bright yellow forecrown, and grass-green coloration with slightly darker wings. The bill is dusky (horn to a dark reddish-brown). The species is restricted to várzea (floodplain) and other wooded habitats near water. Temperatures were in the mid to upper 80's with blue skies and high humidity.
