We birded along Yanallpa Creek, the narrowest and smallest creek that we traversed during our Amazon journey, the morning of Thursday, January 19, 2012. Brad photographed a Varzea Schiffornis, Schiffornis major, that was perched in the várzea (floodplain) understory. It is a brightly colored cinnamon-rufous bird with dusky brownish wings and a stubby dark bill. The amount of grayish brown coloration on the head is individually variable such as this bird's eye ring. Temperatures were in the upper 70's with clear skies and high humidity.
