We birded down river from the city of Requena along Supay Creek the morning of Tuesday, January 17, 2012. This photograph shows a female Yellow-bellied Dacnis, Dacnis flaviventer, with its olive-brown upperparts and buffy underparts that have light mottling on the throat and breast. This species mainly inhabits low lying seasonally flooded forests. The iris is red. Temperatures were in the mid-80's with overcast skies and high humidity.
