We spent the afternoon of January 10, 2012, touring Machu Picchu. This Blue-capped Tanager, Thraupis cyanocephala, was one of the few birds that we saw at the site. The bird's blue crown and nape contrast with its olive upperparts and bluish gray underparts. Its blackish-colored mask can be seen here. As the afternoon wore on, skies cleared, and temperatures rose into the low 70's with increasing humidity.
