I took this photograph of a Blue-gray Tanager, Thraupis episcopus mediana, the morning of Wednesday, January 11, 2012, while we were birding the grounds of our hotel, the Inkaterra Hotel Machu Picchu Pueblo, in Aguas Caliente. The blues and grays on this bird are indicative of the species, while the white shoulder patches are common in the sub-species found here. (Note: white and blue-shouldered sub-species are common in Lima's feral population.) It was a humid, sunny morning with temperatures in the upper 70's.
