We left Yucay by bus early in the morning on Tuesday, January 10, 2012, for the train station in Ollantaytambo. This is an important halfway station between Cuzco and Machu Picchu. Here we caught the Hiram Bingham Train for a 1.5 hour ride that took us through the Sacred Valley of the Incas to Machu Picchu Pueblo (Aguas Calientes). Brad took a frontal-view of a Chestnut-breasted Coronet, Boissonneaua matthewsii, while we were birding near the reception area of our hotel, the Inkaterra Hotel Machu Picchu Pueblo. The Chestnut-breasted Hummers were not overly shy when it came to being photographed. They were more intent on staking out their territory. Temperatures were in the 70's on this overcast morning with intermittent rain.
