Brad and I spent January 9, 2012, birding around our hotel, the Sonesta Posadas del Inca Sacred Valley, Yucay, (Urubamba) Peru. This llama, Lama glama, was tied to a clothesline behind one of the buildings on the property. Llamas are intelligent and, with several repetitions, can be taught simple tasks. The llama is used a source of meat and as a pack animal. Their wool is soft and lanolin-free. Temperatures were in mid-70's on this lovely morning with partly cloudy skies.
