During mid-afternoon on January 7, 2012, Brad and I took a city tour of Lima. Brad photographed this vibrantly colored hibiscus near Huallamarca Huaca (Temple). San Isidro had many huacas, an object (typically a monument) that represented something that was revered. Only two, Huallamarca and Santa Cruz, have survived. Both monuments from pre-Hispanic times (religous sites from the Maranga culture 200-600 AD) have been integrated into the modern-day environment of San Isidro's district. Temperatures were in the upper 80's on this overcast, humid afternoon.
