I took this frontal-view of a Green-and-white Hummingbird, Amazilia viridicauda, the morning of Wednesday, January 11, 2012, while we were birding the grounds of our hotel, the Inkaterra Hotel Machu Picchu Pueblo, in Aguas Caliente. A Peruvian Endemic (East Andean slope), it closely resembles the White-bellied Hummingbird, but lacks white on the basal half of the tail. The Green-and-white is typically restricted to areas near humid forest and is commonly seen in the Machu Picchu area. It was a humid, sunny morning with temperatures in the upper 70's.
