I took this photo of Joanne the morning of Wednesday, January 11, 2012, while we were birding the grounds of our hotel, the Inkaterra Hotel Machu Picchu Pueblo, in Aguas Caliente. We were birding along the Orchid Trail. There were a few orchids in bloom and fewer birds in the immediate area. Native foliage is being replaced with introduced cultivars, and it looks like the birds have started to move on to other areas where there is indigenous vegetation. It was a humid, sunny morning with temperatures in the upper 70's.
