We spent the afternoon of January 10, 2012, touring Machu Picchu, a UNESCO World Heritage Site (1983). Archaeologists have determined that construction at the site began around 1450, had approximately 200 structures, and was occupied for a century. Exactly who lived there and why is still an open topic for debate because of the absence of written documentation and sufficiently explicit material evidence. I took this photo of Joanne while we walked along the path (post-Incan) toward the ruins with the holy peak of Huayna Picchu as a backdrop. Temperatures were in the low 70's with humid conditions and low hanging clouds drifiting in over the Andes.
