We flew from Cuzco to Lima the morning of Thursday, January 12, 2012. After a leisurely lunch at our hotel, the Sonesta Hotel El Olivar located in the municipality of San Isidro (Lima, Peru), Joanne and I headed across the street to bird El Olivar Park. I photographed a Long-tailed Mockingbird, Mimus longicaudatus, as it perched atop a cactus plant in the late afternoon sunlight. Temperatures were in the 80's on this hot and humid day.
