We took a morning birding hike around our hotel, the Inkaterra Hotel Machu Picchu Pueblo, in Aguas Caliente, the morning of Wednesday, January 11, 2012. Set in twelve acres of terraced hills in the cloud forest of the Andes with the Vilcanota River running along one side, the hotel grounds were a lovely place to bird and view the local flora. Brad photographed this sign about Machu Picchu being one of the wonders of the world as we walked along side the rushing Vilcanota River. It was a humid, sunny morning with temperatures in the upper 70's.
