We left Yucay by bus early in the morning on Tuesday, January 10, 2012, for the train station in Ollantaytambo. This is an important halfway station between Cuzco and Machu Picchu. Here we caught the Hiram Bingham Train for a 1.5 hour ride that took us through the Sacred Valley of the Incas to Machu Picchu Pueblo (Aguas Calientes). This local woman, dressed in authentic garb, was sitting between the train and the Urubamba River. She held up each item that she had for sale... It was quite simple; slide the window open, exchange currency (Nuevo Sol) for the item(s) you wanted. Temperatures outside were in the 60's on this overcast morning with intermittent rain.
