We spent the afternoon of January 10, 2012, touring Machu Picchu, a UNESCO World Heritage Site (1983). Archaeologists have determined that construction at the site began around 1450, had approximately 200 structures, and was occupied for a century. Exactly who lived there and why is still an open topic for debate because of the absence of written documentation and sufficiently explicit material evidence. Brad took this photograph of the surrounding Andes as they were highlighted by the sun shining through the clearing afternoon skies. Temperatures were in the low 70's with increasing humidity.
