We spent the afternoon of January 10, 2012, visiting the UNESCO World Heritage Site (1983) of Machu Picchu. As the afternoon wore on, the clouds began to lift, and the sun broke through shining over the agricultural terraces and the reconstructed thatched-roofs on four the structures near the entrance. Look closely at the upper most structure. Here you can see circular stone extensions protruding from the building's right side (just below the roof line) that were used to support bamboo beams that served as a foundation for roofing. Temperatures were in the low 70's with humid conditions.
