We birded the area around our hotel, the Inkaterra Hotel Machu Picchu Pueblo (in Aguas Caliente), the morning of Tuesday, January 10, 2012. This Palm Tanager, Thraupis palmarum, was one of the birds that we photographed. The dark wings are characteristic against a body color that can vary from grayish to pale yellow (depending on the light). Temperatures were in the 70's on this overcast morning with intermittent rain.
