We flew from Cuzco to Lima the morning of Thursday, January 12, 2012. After a leisurely lunch at our hotel, the Sonesta Hotel El Olivar located in the municipality of San Isidro (Lima, Peru), Joanne and I headed across the street to bird El Olivar Park. I photographed this trio of Red-masked Parakeets, Aratinga erythrogenys, preening themselves in the upper reaches of a nearby tree. The red mask extends below and behind the eye on these birds. The underwing coverts are red. Temperatures were in the 80's on this hot and humid day.
