We flew from Cuzco to Lima the morning of Thursday, January 12, 2012. After a leisurely lunch at our hotel, the Sonesta Hotel El Olivar located in the municipality of San Isidro (Lima, Peru), Joanne and I headed across the street to bird El Olivar Park. I photographed a 'sprinkler dampened' Saffron Finch, Sicalis flaveola, as it perched above us. The bright yellow male has an orange crown. Upperparts are a yellowish-green color. The upper mandible is gray, and the lower mandible is ivory. Legs and feet are a pinkish-gray. Temperatures were in the 80's on this hot and humid day.
