We flew from Cuzco to Lima the morning of Thursday, January 12, 2012. After a leisurely lunch at our hotel, the Sonesta Hotel El Olivar located in the municipality of San Isidro (Lima, Peru), Joanne and I headed across the street to bird El Olivar Park. I took this photograph of an immature Vermilion Flycatcher, Pyrocephalus rubinus, as it perched nearby. Underparts have a variable amount of dusky streaking, and the lower belly can range in color from whitish to yellow, pink, salmon or vermilion. Temperatures were in the 80's on this hot and humid day.
