We flew from Cuzco to Lima the morning of Thursday, January 12, 2012. After a leisurely lunch at our hotel, the Sonesta Hotel El Olivar located in the municipality of San Isidro (Lima, Peru), Joanne and I headed across the street to bird El Olivar Park. I took a closeup shot of this Vermilion Flycatcher, Pyrocephalus rubinus, as it perched nearby. Adult breeding males spend up to 90 percent of their time perched. Temperatures were in the 80's on this hot and humid day.
