We birded the area around our hotel, the Inkaterra Hotel Machu Picchu Pueblo (in Aguas Caliente), the morning of Tuesday, January 10, 2012. Brad photographed this White-capped Dipper, Cinclus leucocephalus, near our hotel while we were walking to Aguas Caliente to catch a bus to take us up the Hiram Bingham Road to Machu Picchu. The head, nape, and breast area are white. The rest of the body and eye-mask are a dark grayish color. Temperatures were in the 70's on this overcast morning with intermittent rain.
