Brad and I spent January 9, 2012, birding around our hotel, the Sonesta Posadas del Inca Sacred Valley, Yucay, (Urubamba) Peru. We enjoyed watching and photographing a White-crested Elaenia, Elaenia albiceps, as it flitted from tree to tree. This small elaenia typically has a well developed white crown patch which it displayed gloriously for us. Underparts are whitish with a yellowish wash on the undertail coverts and flanks. The chest has a pale olive tinge. Upperparts are a grayish-brown. Two white wing bars are present. The upper mandible is black. Temperatures were in mid-70's on this lovely morning with partly cloudy skies.
